2020. That summer, I felt the fear, confusion and sadness of the state of world. I was lucky to be safe with my family at home and felt like I had something to give and to share. Musically, I was inspired and ready to create something more upbeat and bright to hopefully bring peace, love and joy to the world. Honeycrunch was born through windows-open, summertime jams in the Cabana. I was playing with some new portable gear that led to breezy, outdoor electronic sessions. Following the creative format of previous Sunstrom Sound music, the songs were programmed and sequenced then performed and mixed down live in the studio, this time to my old half-broken TEAC tape machine. The sounds from the tape machine were saturated, sweet and crunchy and as the bees worked in our garden outside my studio window, I found inspiration in their buzz, fuzz and sweet creations. I hope you enjoy Honeycrunch; from me to you! It’s dropping a few years late but I think it’s hitting at the right time of year as the Solstice is upon us. Peace.
